As the air turns crisp, apples hang heavy on the branches of New England’s old orchards. Just up the road from our workshop, one such orchard grows tidy rows of heirloom varieties; each with a distinct flavor unique to our region. Every autumn they’re picked by hand, reminding us to savor what’s been gathered and to take comfort in the beauty of fall.
